The countdown to Christmas means the countdown to Rock ‘n’ Roll Season for the City Varieties Music Hall in Leeds. The Rock ‘n’ Roll Panto brand has become a tradition at the theatre since it reopened after its refurbishment in 2010 – this year the unique format takes on Jack and the Beanstalk.
“The Rock ‘n’ Roll Panto is always a great success,” says City Varieties House Manager Frank Chambers. “Children, parents, Grandparents and even Great-Grandparents love it! The auditorium is like a party; live music, laughter and dance. It’s a must for festive season.”
The Rock ‘n’ Roll Panto has all the bearings of a traditional panto – audience interaction, custard pies, slapstick comedy – with the added bonus of live music played on stage by the actors and a playlist of hits from the 60s, 70s and beyond that gets the audience rocking in the aisles.
