Produced and co-written by Peter Jackson, Mortal Engines is based on the book series by Philip Reeve. Jackson reveals, “Mortal Engines is set in a world that we’ve never seen.” He goes on to tease the film's heroine Hester saying, “Hester is on a mission to exact vengeance and kill the person who murdered her mother… of course things don’t go according to plan!”

Mortal Engines promises to be a visual treat with star Hugo Weaving explaining, “This is a wonderfully imagine world that has been realised by Peter Jackson and his team.”

Robert Sheehan, who plays Tom Natsworthy, adds, “The breadth of vision they brought to Lord of the Rings, they’re going to bring the same to Mortal Engines.”

The featurette shows the sheer breadth and depth of the incredible world that Mortal Engines is set. Director Christian Rivers shares a little bit about the moving cities that are a big part of the film, “The big cities ingest smaller towns and London is one of the biggest. They are on a mission to hunt down another town.”

Mortal Engines has a strong female lead in Hester Shaw, played by Hera Hilmar. What can we expect from the character? Hilmar shares, “When we first see Hester she’s this mysterious, feral, badass.”

The film also stars Jihae, Ronan Raftery, Patrick Malahide, Stephen Lang and Leila George.

Mortal Engines arrives in UK cinemas from 14th December 2018.
