The Folio Society unveils Autumn 2025 Collection featuring Murakami, Ishiguro, Paddington Bear, Ian Fleming, Tom Holland and more

The Folio Society has revealed its Autumn 2025 line-up, with new editions spanning contemporary literature, classic science fiction, children’s favourites, the world of Roman antiquity and the much-anticipated final instalment in its Ian Fleming James Bond collection.

The headline release is the first ever illustrated edition of what is considered Haruki Murakami’s magnum opus ‘1Q84'. Published in a two-volume set (£150), it features striking artwork by Daniel Liévano, who has previously illustrated other Folio Murakami titles such as ‘Norwegian Wood‘, ‘The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle‘ and ‘Kafka on the Shore‘. The magical realist epic, part love story and part detective thriller, remains one of the author’s most ambitious works.

Another standout is Walter M. Miller Jr.’s post-apocalyptic 1959 classic ‘A Canticle for Leibowitz' (£70), with illustrations by Elliot Lang and a new introduction from Pulitzer Prize-winning critic Michael Dirda. Lang’s artwork is particularly personal, with real-life family connections to the book’s subject matter.

Children’s literature is represented with British favourite ‘A Bear Called Paddington' (£49.95), a beautifully-produced edition of Michael Bond’s 1958 debut, complete with Peggy Fortnum’s iconic illustrations in colour for the first time. Former Children's Laureate Sir Michael Morpurgo (‘War Horse') provides an affectionate introduction recalling his friendship with much-missed Bond.

The Folio Society also continues its work with celebrated contemporary authors. ‘H is for Hawk' (£60), Helen Macdonald's 2014 memoir, features new linocut illustrations by Chris Wormell and a reflective introduction by Macdonald herself, while Kazuo Ishiguro’s 2021 science-fiction work ‘Klara and the Sun' (£75) is given a shimmering slipcased edition with illustrations by Isabel Seliger.

Agatha Christie’s ‘Endless Night' (£55) is an example of one of her thrillers, and it is the writer’s personal favourite among her works, newly illustrated by Hokyoung Kim. There's also a fresh edition of Shirley Jackson’s popular ‘The Lottery and Other Dark Tales' (£55), introduced by biographer Ruth Franklin. It stylistically matches The Folio Society's other Jackson releases, ‘The Haunting of Hill House‘ and ‘We Have Always Lived in the Castle‘.

Roman history enthusiasts are catered for with the excellent Tom Holland’s ‘Pax: War and Peace in Rome’s Golden Age' (£70), the third entry in ‘The Rest is History' presenter's acclaimed series of books about how peace was maintained in the Roman Empire. The volume includes 24 colour images and 14 hand-drawn maps by cartographer Kevin Freeborn.

Finally, James Bond enthusiasts can complete their collection! Included in the Autumn releases is the two short stories ‘Octopussy & The Living Daylights' (£55), which are published together as they traditionally have been. This marks the last volume in The Folio Society’s James Bond series, and is illustrated by Fay Dalton, who has provided artwork for all titles in the series.
