In a major announcement during her inaugural MuttNation Music for Mutts benefit concert, country superstar and Big Loud Texas co-founder Miranda Lambert introduced the label’s second-ever signing: Texas-born country artist Jake Worthington. The announcement was made from the Ascend Amphitheater stage in Nashville, solidifying Worthington’s place as a rising star in traditional Texas country music.
Billboard has called Worthington a “hard-country singer,” while Wide Open Country described the La Porte native as “poised to become a leader in traditional Texas country.” Lambert herself expressed her excitement during the live announcement, stating, “I’m really proud to say, I get to announce this from stage tonight. I’m a co-founder of a new label called Big Loud Texas, and our sole job is to keep the outlaw movement going and to keep the great stuff from the great state of Texas out there for the people.”
Welcoming Worthington to the label, Lambert added, “As of last week, we got one of my favourite artists of all time on our label. I want y’all to welcome back to the stage my friend Jake Worthington! Did y’all hear him earlier? He is country as a biscuit, and I love it!”
Worthington, clearly excited to officially join the Big Loud Texas family, remarked, “I’ve been both Big Loud and Texas through and true for a while now, so it sure feels good to make it official like this.”
In a recent interview with Texas Monthly, Worthington emphasised the importance of the label’s Texas roots, saying, “It’s really cool to see a label go up in Austin. I think it’s even cooler that somebody like Miranda and Jon [Randall] are on the forefront of that… It’s going to give a lot of songwriters and singers a new avenue. And it’s great for the state of Texas.”
Brendon Anthony, VP of Big Loud Texas, shared his enthusiasm for Worthington’s addition to the label, stating, “We are so glad to welcome Jake Worthington to Big Loud Texas! Jake is 100% country through and through, and we could not be more excited to have him on board!”
Big Loud Texas Co-Founder and President of A&R Jon Randall echoed the sentiment, saying, “No words can describe my excitement of having Jake Worthington on the Big Loud Texas team. Every time I hear him sing, I’m reminded of why I fell in love with country music in the first place. Grab a six pack and hang on, it’s about to get real.”
Already making waves with his new label, Worthington recently collaborated with Lambert on the down-on-your-luck duet, ‘Hello Shitty Day,' which has received high praise from critics. Whiskey Riff described the steel-soaked track as “a honky tonk classic,” while PEOPLE magazine called it “a major country music collaboration.”
With his official signing to Big Loud Texas, Jake Worthington is poised for even greater success, continuing to bring his authentic Texas sound to country music fans everywhere.
