3. ‘Someone Has To Die’
From Manolo Caro (the brains behind the excellent ‘House of Flowers’), ‘Someone Has To Die’ aka ‘Alguien tiene que morir’ is a period mini-series set in Spain in the 1950s. It stars Alejandro Speitzer (‘Dark Desire’), Cecilia SuĆ”rez (‘House of Flowers’) and Ester ExpĆ³sito (‘Elite’) and at only three episodes, it’s very easy to binge all in one go (which is exactly what we did).
The story begins when a young man (Speitzer), after being called by his parents, must return from Mexico to his home to meet his fiancĆ©e, but the people are surprised when he returns accompanied by Lazaro (Isaac HernĆ”ndez), a mysterious ballet dancer.Ā Exploring societal issues of the time, the addictive drama features fantastic performances and as you’d expect from Caro, it’s incredibly stylish.
