On the latest episode of The Walking Dead we saw how Alpha (Samantha Morton) met Beta (Ryan Hurst).
If you’re not up to date with The Walking Dead and like to avoid spoilers we suggest you don’t read any further.
The entire episode focused on Alpha, Beta and the Whisperers. Much of the episode was a flashback which showed how Alpha, and a young Lydia, came to meet a hooded Beta. Alpha and her daughter sought refuse in a building where he was staying. Alpha and Beta had things in common such as a love of killing walkers.
Lydia snuck off in the night to prove herself to her mother. When Alpha awoke she searched for her daughter and killed a walker that Beta used to know. Lydia turned up and stopped Beta from killing Alpha. Beta was upset at Alpha killing the walker and didn’t want to leave. However Alpha gave him her knife and he cut the face off the walker to wear as his new mask.
Back in the present, the Whisperers began building their herds as they got ready to return to their territory. Frances, the girl who Alpha made give up her baby, was causing problems. Beta wanted to kill her but Alpha tried to help her instead. Later, Francis flew into a rage after spotting a walker wearing a baby carrier. She attacked Alpha but was killed after her sister (Thora Birch) threw her to the walkers. Alpha rewarded the sister for her loyalty and gave her the new name of Gamma.
At the end of the episode, we saw the final scene of the premier from Alpha’s perspective as she left the woods and saw Carol (Melissa McBride) stood on the cliff above.
