The Blair Witch Project movie was released all the way back in 1999 and influenced a whole slew of movies trying to cash in on the success of this hidden footage genre. Around the same time as the sequel was released, back in 2000, a trilogy of games were released that each explored different aspects of the Blair Witch mythology. The guys behind the new Blair Witch game are Bloober Team who have been busily scaring the pants off us with games such as Observer and Layers of Fear.
The new gameplay trailer sets the tone perfectly as we see lead character Ellis, a former police officer, and his trusty hound Bullet enter the Black Hills Forest on the hunt for a missing boy. Together they find there is much more going on that just a missing persons case and things start to get dark, very very dark.

Quite frankly I’m not sure if I’m brave enough anymore to play scary games and Blair Witch looks like it’s going to be very scary indeed. When Blair Witch was first revealed at E3 2019 it was described as “story-driven psychological horror game that studies your reactions to fear and stress.” I for one feel stressed just watching the trailer!
Blair Witch launches on 31st August for PC and Xbox One.
