‘Cities Skylines 2’ Beach Properties Updates Angers Gamers

Cities Skylines 2 has struggled since it launched last October. It currently holds a mixed review rating on Steam but a recent review rating of mostly negative. The game has been plagued by bugs since it came out and there have been various called to get the game in order before concentrating on adding new content. Despite this, Colossal Order and Paradox Interactive have decided to plough on with additional content.

The Beach Properties update promised players the chance to ” Bring life to your city’s waterfronts with Beach Properties. Specializing in residential buildings that kiss the water’s edge, this Asset Pack brings the tranquillity and beauty of coastal living to your city.”

Sounds nice but there are more than a few problems with it, I’ll let the Steam reviews do the talking here:

“How can you add a “Beach properties” asset pack when there are literally no beaches in the game? Or any map theme that does not scream “cold weather here”. Besides, the assets are mostly clones of each other and do not feel “beach-themed” at all. This DLC is $3 at most, not $10.”

” Easily the worst waste of money since the concept of monetary exchange for goods was conceived. I unfortunately preordered the Ultimate Edition, so I get the privilege of “enjoying” this paltry “DLC”. I would not recommend gracing this company with your open wallet. “

“This DLC is embarrassing, I think. Everything everyone else has already said. Houses don’t seem any more “beachy” than normal. No beaches unless you use developer tools. No commercial buildings, no parks, no beach-themed public services, no new policies, nothing that makes this worth $10. After everything players have been through, I’m kinda shocked this was released for a cost. Should have been free. My only hope is that modders and future content creators will somehow make use of the new zoning type, because C.O. sure didn’t.”

These are just three from over one thousand reviews with this DLC holding an overwhelmingly negative score.
