Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real to release new album Turn Off the News (Build a Garden) in June

Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real will release new album Turn Off The News (Build A Garden) on 14th June 2019 through Fantasy Records.

The album’s lead track Bad Case, is available to stream and download now and the album is available to pre-order. Listen to it below:

Recorded at Shangri-La in Malibu and the Village Studios in West L.A., Turn Off The News (Build A Gar- den) was co-produced by Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real and John Alagia. The band recorded 30 original songs during breaks in their touring schedule, tracking them straight to analog tape, keeping overdubs to a minimum while focusing on the live performances.

Vocal and instrumental contributions from friends and family include Margo Price, Sheryl Crow, Willie Nelson, Micah Nelson, Kesha, Shooter Jennings, Randy Houser, Lucius, Madison Ryann Ward, Hunter Elizabeth and Neil Young.

“We wanted these songs to be fun and upbeat,” says Nelson, “but we also wanted to have something to say. Rock & roll began as a countercultural movement, so in the true spirit of rock & roll, we’re trying to encourage a lifestyle where people can be active in their local communities, rather than glued to a de- vice.

We listen to so many artists ā€” the Byrds, Tom Petty, Al Green, Neil Young, Little Feat, J.J. Cale ā€” and this album carries forth something they all represented, the idea of turning off the news and doing some- thing constructive. Itā€™s a statement about how you can live your life with your heart leading the way.”

It’s been two years since the band released their self-titled Fantasy debut. Since then they have headlined shows and festivals across the globe, and collaborated with Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper on 2018’s A Star is Born film and soundtrack.

This month the band opens for The Who at Nashvilleā€™s Bridgestone Arena and the day after (17th May) they will give their first-ever headline performance at Nashvilleā€™s legendary Ryman Auditorium.

In June they will headline Londonā€™s Shepherdā€™s Bush Empire and perform at Glastonbury.
