The much-talked about remake of Child’s Play will be released in cinemas in the UK and Ireland on 21st June 2019 through Vertigo Releasing.
The film, which is based on the cult 1988 movie of the same name, stars Mark Hamill (Star Wars) as the voice of Chucky, Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Recreation), Brian Tyree Henry (Atlanta), and Gabriel Bateman (Lights Out).
Plaza stars as a single mother who buys her son Andy (Bateman) a Buddi doll, unaware of its more sinister nature. Tyree Henry plays the cop on the trail of the miniature murderer and Tim Matheson (Animal House), plays the founder of the Kaslan Corporation, which produces the Buddi dolls.
The film has been produced by David Katzenberg and Seth Grahame-Smith under their KatzSmith banner. Aaron Schmidt and Chris Ferguson executive produced the project. Child’s Play is directed by new talent Lars Klevberg (director of the forthcoming horror chiller Polaroid), and written by Tyler Burton Smith, based on the original script.
Rupert Preston, CEO of Vertigo Releasing, says āWe are thrilled to be releasing this iconic franchise movie and canāt wait to unleash it on UK audiences.ā
