Rising country traditionalist Kenny Whitmire delivered one of the most talked-about moments in Nashville this week, joining Charlie Puth onstage during his headline show at Ascend Amphitheatre. The surprise appearance saw the pair perform a duet-style version of Whitmire’s viral hit ‘I Gave Her The Moon,' bringing together two artists from very different corners of the music world in a moment that perfectly captured the song’s growing crossover appeal.
The collaboration has been building behind the scenes for months. Puth first discovered the track organically on social media after Whitmire teased it on TikTok late last year. Impressed by the song’s emotional pull, the multi-platinum star went on to produce his own version and share it with his millions of followers, helping introduce Whitmire to a far wider audience. The song quickly gained traction across platforms, also catching the attention of country heavyweights including Luke Combs, Tracy Lawrence and Ella Langley.
Introducing Whitmire to the Nashville crowd, Puth didn’t hold back in his praise. “I predict in the next year or two, y’all are going to be seeing him right over there at that Nissan Stadium because I’m blown away by this guy,” he told the audience, signalling just how highly he rates the emerging artist.
