Glass tops the UK box office during it’s opening weekend

M. Night Shyamalan’s Glass has topped the UK and Irish box office during it’s opening weekend.

The film took an estimated Ā£3.425M to land at number one. It stars Bruce Willis, Samuel L. Jackson, James McAvoy, Anya Taylor-Joy and Sarah Paulson, and is a continuation of 2000ā€™s Unbreakable and 2016ā€™s Split.

Glass performed well in the US too taking the number one spot during the Martin Luther King 4-day holiday weekend with $47M at the box office.

ā€œItā€™s been 19 years since Buena Vista International released Unbreakable to UK audiences, and we are delighted to join M. Night Shyamalan on his journey completing this masterful piece of storytelling with Glassā€ says Lee Jury, Head of Walt Disney Studios UK & Ireland. ā€œWe are thrilled that UK and Irish audiences have embraced this unmissable and thought-provoking film and congratulate the supremely talented Night and his incredible cast.ā€

Glass sees Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson reprising their roles as David Dunn and Elijah Price respectively from Unbreakable, and James McAvoy and Anya Taylor-Joy reprising their roles as Kevin Wendell Crumb and Casey Cooke from Split.

Following the conclusion of Split, Glass finds Dunn pursuing Crumbā€™s superhuman figure of The Beast in a series of escalating encounters, while the shadowy presence of Price emerges as an orchestrator who holds secrets critical to both men.

Glass is produced by Shyamalan and Blumhouse Productionā€™s Jason Blum with Ashwin Rajan and Marc Bienstock, and Steven Schneider, who executive produces.
