Golden Globes winners: Bohemian Rhapsody and Green Book lead the charge

Bohemian Rhapsody

The 76th Annual Golden Globes took place at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles last night and it was full of surprises.

Hosted by Andy Samberg and Sandra Oh, the awards were expected to be dominated by A Star is Born. That film only walked away with one award – Best Original Song, Motion Picture for Shallow.

Instead it was Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody and comedy drama Green Book that walked away with the top prizes. Bohemian Rhapsody, which received very mixed reviews on its release, picked up Best Motion Picture, Drama and Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture, Drama while Green Book, starring Viggo Mortensen and Mahershala Ali picked up Best Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy, Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in Any Motion Picture and Best Screenplay, Motion Picture.

In the TV categories The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story won Best Television Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television and Best Performance by an Actor in a Limited Series or a Motion Picture Made for Television for Darren Criss. Rachel Brosnahan picked up Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series, Musical or Comedy for her role in The Marvelous Mrs Maisel and Scottish actor Richard Madden won Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series, Drama for his role in Bodyguard.
