Summer Holiday to hit Leeds Grand Theatre

At the peak of a scorching season, Summer Holiday The Musical is set to hit Leeds Grand Theatre from 31 July.

Based on the iconic Sixties film starring Cliff Richard and The Shadows, Summer Holiday will include all of the number one hits from the movie, including Summer Holiday, Bachelor Boy and The Young Ones, plus some additional Cliff Richard classics.

The musical tells the story of Don and his fellow London Transport mechanics as they journey together in a red double-decker bus through Paris, the Alps, Italy and Greece. Along the way they pick up a girl singing group and a young American pop star who is on the run from her domineering mother.

Taking on the lead role of Don is singer-songwriter Ray Quinn. Ray shot to fame as the runner-up in ITV1’s The X Factor in 2006, with theatre credits including Danny Zuko in Grease and more recently, The Wedding Singer at the Grand last August.

The role of Jerry, the long-suffering agent, will be played by Wayne Smith. Sophie Matthew is runaway singer, Barbara, with Taryn Sudding taking on the role of Stella, her controlling fame-hungry mother. Billy Robert, Joe Goldie and Rory Maguire play Don’s fellow London Transport mechanics.

Summer Holiday is at Leeds Grand Theatre from Tuesday 31 July to Saturday 4 August.
Tickets are on sale now priced from £20.50.  Book online at leedsgrandtheatre.com or call Box Office on 0844 848 2700.
