Cyrus (Jeff Perry) orchestrated a plane hijacking to boost his public profile on the latest episode of Scandal.
Determined to oust Mellie (Bellamy Young) from the Whitehouse and take her place, Cyrus decided to make himself into a national hero by arranging the hijacking of a plane that he was travelling on with David (Joshua Malina) and members of the press.
Playing the hero, Cyrus gave an inspirational speech to the passengers as the plane was about to shot down on the orders of the White House. He ensured footage from the plane was leaked and shown on TV.

Jake (Scott Foley) tried to tell Mellie that Cyrus was behind the hijack but she wouldn’t believe him. Once the ordeal was over Olivia (Kerry Washington) confronted Cyrus and he admitted that he was plotting to become President.
Elsewhere in the episode Olivia visited Maya (Khandi Alexander) and decided to let her out of jail. She gave her a plane ticket to France and money. Also Abby (Darby Stanchfield) thought that David was going to propose to her and started freaking out.
The next episode of the season is The List. As Cyrus revels in being America’s newest hero, Olivia tries to bridge the gap with the Gladiators by disclosing her theory behind the hijack
