A brand new trailer and one-sheet poster has arrived for Lady Bird, the directorial debut for popular indie actress Greta Gerwig.
The film stars Saoirse Ronan, fresh from her success with the outstanding romantic drama Brooklyn. Her diverse film credits include the likes of The Grand Budapest Hotel, Loving Vincent and Byzantium.
Co-starring in the film are Odeya Rush, Kathryn Newton, Timothée Chalamet, Laurie Metcalf, Jake McDorman, Lois Smith, Andy Buckley, Tracy Letts, Lucas Hedges, Laura Marano, Daniel Zovatto, Jordan Rodrigues, Kristen Cloke and Danielle Macdonald.
The film is produced by Scott Rudin, Eli Bush and Evelyn O’Neill.
Revealing herself to be a bold new cinematic voice with her debut behind the lens, Greta Gerwig excavates both the humour and pathos in the turbulent bond between a mother and her teenage daughter.
Christine “Lady Bird” McPherson (Saoirse Ronan) fights against but is exactly like her wildly loving, deeply opinionated and strong-willed mom (Laurie Metcalf), a nurse working tirelessly to keep her family afloat after Lady Bird’s father (Tracy Letts) loses his job.
Set in Sacramento, California in 2002, amidst a rapidly shifting American economic landscape, Lady Bird is an affecting look at the relationships that shape us, the beliefs that define us, and the unmatched beauty of a place called home.
Writer/Director Greta Gerwig has really made a name for herself in the last few years, with big performances in the likes of Damsels in Distress, Wiener-Dog, Maggie’s Plan, Mistress America, Frances Ha and Greenberg.
She can next be seen lending her voice to Wes Anderson’s hotly anticipated Isle of Dogs.
Lady Bird arrives into UK cinemas on 16th February 2018 after having been the secret surprise film at this year’s London Film Festival.
