Spencer Sutherland leaves The X Factor 2017

Last night The X Factor 2017 live shows started and judges, Nicole Scherzinger, Louis Walsh and Sharon Osbourne were there to support their contestants whilst Simon Cowell was absent. The show continued with the Girls and Boys finalists, who battled it out in order to secure a place on next week’s live show.

Unfortunately it was the end of the road for Spencer Sutherland, who opted to sing Jessie J’s hit ballad, Who You Are. I personally thought that Spencer’s performance was good but perhaps not as memorable as others. His rendition of Jessie J’s heartbreaking song was powerful and his vocals were definitely not the worst I heard last night but the public has the ultimate say and this meant that Spencer did not manage to score enough votes to sing on next week’s X Factor live show.

What the judges said: Sharon thought that his vocal performance was very strong but that he should work on his look and moves as it was a bit ‘boy band’. Nicole said that his singing was honest and that she loved it. Mentor, Louis said that Spencer was one of the most professional contestants he has worked on the show.

You can relive his performance below:

The young singer from Ohio, is no stranger to the scene having released his first single back in 2013 and enjoying success in the US, whilst also working on his album. One almost wonders why someone like Spencer would need to be on the show but what’s sure is that this is not the last we will hear from Spencer Sutherland.

Tonight the Overs and Groups will face the public vote as they will sing to remain on The X Factor 2017.

The X Factor 2017 continues tonight on ITV at 10pm.
