The Walking Dead returned for its eagerly awaited season 8 premiere last week and it set things up nicely for the season.

Rick (Andrew Lincoln), Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Ezekiel (Khary Payton) brought their communities together to confront Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and The Saviors. Gregory (Xander Berkeley) tried to convince the Hilltop residents to join forces with Negan but Jesus (Tom Payne) led the charge by refusing, instead choosing to side with Maggie.

Father Gabriel (Seth Gilliam) reluctantly rescued Gregory after the Hilltop leader was cast aside by Negan but was double-crossed when Gregory stole his car and left without him. Gabriel became trapped in a trailer to keep away from the Walkers and found himself stuck with Negan.

Meanwhile Carol (Melissa McBride), Daryl (Norman Reedus) and Tara (Alanna Masterson) attacked the Sanctuary and flooded the compound with Walkers.

The next episode of the season is The Damned. The plan involving Alexandrians, Kingdommers and Hilltoppers unfolds. As Rick continues to fight, he encounters a familiar face.
