Sam Smith has released his eagerly awaited new single Too Good at Goodbyes today.

The track is the first new material from Smith since 2015’s The Writings on the Wall, which was the theme to James Bond film Spectre. Too Good at Goodbyes was written with Jimmy Napes and Stargate.

Fans of Smith will be pleased to know that he hasn’t strayed far from the sound that made him a global sensation. Too Good at Goodbyes is a piano ballad with a gospel flavour that recalls his major smash Stay With Me.

Talking about the soulful song, Sam reflects “This song is about a relationship I was in and it’s basically about getting good at getting dumped. It’s been a long while since I’ve put any music out and I feel that this first single sets the tone of what is to come.”

To celebrate his new material, Smith will perform a series of intimate shows in London, New York, Los Angeles and Berlin starting next week. The venues for the shows are to be announced but the dates are:

11th September: LA
13th September: NYC
15th September: London
18th September: Berlin

Smith is expected to release his new album, the follow-up to 2014’s In the Lonely Hour later this year.
