Wildwood Kin and Richard Thompson will perform at the second annual UK Americana Awards, it has been announced.
Taking place at St John at Hackney on Thursday 2nd February 2017, the awards will be hosted by broadcaster Bob Harris. On the night Richard Thompson will be awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award and Wildwood Kin will collect the Bob Harris Emerging Artist Award.
Also performing on the night will be Mary Chapin Carpenter, Ethan Johns, Lewis & Leigh and Sam Outlaw. Outlaw will be headlining the Awards Aftershow Party at Oslo, which will feature performances from Yola Carter, William The Conqueror, Danni Nicolls and Peter Bruntnell.
This year’s awards coincide with the first anniversary of the Official Americana Albums Chart, which was launched last year by the Official Charts Company in partnership with the AMA-UK. To celebrate the occasion, the best-selling UK Americana album of 2016 will be recognised with a special award.
The UK Americana Awards are part of AmericanaFest UK, a two-day event which will also include an evening of showcases on Wednesday 1st February 2017 featuring 20 bands playing in various venues around Hackney and daytime conferences on both days.
