Circa: Closer comes to the Udderbelly Festival at Southbank Centre

Internationally acclaimed, multi-award winning circus company Circa (The Return, Barbican) return to London for their longest season to date, from Thursday 7th April – Sunday 12th June 2016. Join five astounding performers in Closer as they reveal breath-taking, up-close acrobatics in this elegant and intimate encounter of sophisticated fun.

Circa are known for presenting circus without spectacle: Closer looks at the human body and the authenticity of the performers as they confound expectations and prompt an emotional connection with the audience. This beautiful and quirky show takes us on a magical and delicate journey in a world filled with chaos.

Closer transforms objects and motifs from everyday life that we wouldn’t normally even consider. As the masterful acrobats gracefully ascend a tower of chairs, our hearts skip a beat and we feel something without knowing what we’re feeling.

Closer has been commissioned specifically for the iconic ‘upside down purple cow’ Udderbelly venue. With productions that have toured thirty-four countries across six continents since 2006, Circa’s work is a stripped back circus of the heart.

Circa’s Closer is part of the Udderbelly Festival on London’s Southbank – one of London’s cultural highlights – which returns for its 8th year. Graze in the shade of the iconic upside-down purple cow, grab a bellyful of comedy, circus and family fun inside, and then enjoy an eclectic range of delicious street food and drink.
