Charles Esten, who plays Deacon Claybourne on Nashville, spoke to press ahead of his performance at C2C: Country to Country on the Yamaha Music Stage today.
Last night during the CMA Songwriters event, Esten announced that some of the Nashville cast will be heading over to the UK for a tour this June. Speaking to press today Esten confirmed, āItās going to be myself, Chris Carmack, Sam Palladio and Clare Bowen. This show has been put together for a while. Because Iām a sucker for free applause I asked if I could announce it on stage. I was thrilled that I got to announce it.ā
When asked if fans of the show can expect just songs from the show or some original material too, Esten said, āWe get both. With social media and just the way the world is now, youāre not just the character on the show. Theyāre able to hear our music and talk to us. Itās nice not to only have the songs from the show but ours too.ā
Talking about his love for being a part of Nashville, Esten shared the story of his first meeting with Connie Britton who plays his love interest Rayna James on the show. āI was a huge fan of Friday Night Lights…when I finally got to meet her I said “there are a thousand reasons why Iām excited to do this show and youāre a few hundred of āem”‘
We asked if ABC’s tendency to draw out the renewal announcement for Nashville every year was a frustration. āIt doesnāt frustrate me, itās just part of the job. If it ends tomorrow then Iāll know I got the most out of it that I could.ā
Charles Esten performs at 7.35pm on the Yamaha Music Stage tonight as part of C2C: Country to Country.
