In the latest episode of Madam Secretary, Elizabeth (Téa Leoni) was faced with the problems of ISIS and Syria. An American born ISIS leader, nicknamed Jihadi Judd, posted a beheading video online in retaliation to the US involvement in Syria.

President Dalton flipped demanding the terrorist be captured or killed. It didn’t take long to identify the terrorist and his mother happened to be a State Department employee. They brought her in for questioning and to confirm his identity.

Meanwhile Elizabeth ordered that all American aid workers from the area be evacuated. One of these was a doctor named Will Adams (Eric Stoltz) who turned out to be Elizabeth’s brother.

Back in the US he visited Elizabeth at home and stayed for dinner. They argued about the situation and ended up going fly fishing together. Elizabeth was able to use information gathered from talking to Will to track a courier. This led to the death of Jihadi Judd and the courier with the help of a drone strike.

Elsewhere in the episode Henry (Tim Daly) was approached by Dimitri who requested he help his friend Ivan. The Russian military were recalling all personnel who were homosexual and Dimitri knew that Ivan would probably end up dead if this happened.

Henry tried to get help for Ivan and advised he seek asylum in the US. Ivan however wanted to remain a soldier.

At the end of the episode Ivan sent a text message to Henry thanking him for his help. Henry realised what was happening and rushed to Ivan but was too late to prevent him committing suicide.

The next episode of season two is You Say You Want a Revolution. With the support of President Dalton, Elizabeth attempts to get the Senates support for a history-making effort to lift the Cuban trade embargo. Also, Henry and Alison bond while touring Havana together.
