C2C 2016: Sam Hunt profile

A lot can change in a year and Sam Hunt should know that better than most people.

Last year Hunt was relatively unknown in the UK and his performances at C2C: Country to Country were limited to the pop-up stages and the Satellite Stage. Even though he didn’t have much of a UK profile, he easily pulled in the biggest audience on the pop-up stages and such was the buzz around him that he performed a sold-out headline gig at the Borderline the day after C2C finished.

This year Hunt, who has established himself as one of the biggest artists in country music since the release of his 2014 debut Montevallo, will be performing on the main stage where he rightly belongs. He will be the second artist on the stage following an opening set from Maddie & Tae.

Since it’s release Montevallo has topped the US Country charts and sold 2 million copies in the US alone. His singles Leave the Night On, Take Your Time and House Party have all topped both the US Top Country Songs and US Country Aiplay charts. His current single Break Up in a Small Town is on the verge of achieving the same feat.

As well as his own music, Hunt has also written for other artists including Keith Urban, Billy Currington and Reba McEntire. More recently he co-wrote Hearbeat, the new single from Carrie Underwood which he also sings backing vocals on. The pair performed the track on the Grammys recently where they mashed it up with Hunt’s hit Take Your Time.

Without a doubt Hunt’s performance at C2C will be one of the most talked about performances of the festival and it’s sure to draw one of the biggest crowds. We wouldn’t be surprised if he’s headlining in the next couple of years.

Sam Hunt will perform on the main stage at C2C: Country to Country in London on Saturday 12th March 2016. Watch the video for Sam’s hit Take Your Time below:
