This March, Jane Asher takes on the iconic role of Miss Haversham in a new production of Great Expectations for West Yorkshire Playhouse. Director Lucy Bailey directs this striking new staging of Charles Dickens’ novel, returning to the Playhouse for the first time since Dial M For Murder.

Director Lucy Bailey said: “The piece is a wonderful mixture of the very dark, melancholic and comic. The sinister presence of the prison hulks out in the estuary, dominates the opening scenes of the novel. These hell holes of human suffering have provided the imaginative springboard for our approach to the play.”

The production has been adapted for the Quarry stage by playwright and screenwriter Michael Eaton, whose credits for television, stage and screen include television dramas Shipman and Why Lockerbie.
