An all-star ensemble unites for Peter Bogdanovich’s hilariously scripted and directed fable. Gorgeous star Isabella Patterson (the lovely Imogen Poots) recounts her rise to stardom to hard-nosed journalist Illeana Douglas. Her story begins as a good-time girl who meets the amorous Arnold Albertson (Owen Wilson), a well-intentioned playwright with a wandering eye and his actress wife Delta Simmons (Kathryn Hahn).
Smart, funny and gloriously over-the-top, this is Bogdanovich and Woody Allen slapstick at its finest with a dash of caper that wouldn’t be out of place in a Frasier episode. Lots of cracking performances too from the likes of Jennifer Aniston, Will Forte, Rhys Ifans, Cybill Shepherd, Austin Pendleton and Joanna Lumley. A gem of a comedy that deserves a big audience.
