EF’s Underdogs FAVELA, Clean Cut Kid and more

It’s that time again where we present to you the best of the bunch when it comes to new music.

Our monthly feature Underdogs highlights the artists that are making waves and on the brink of mainstream success. We’ve been listening to lots of different artists from a variety of genres and we’ve picked the best of the bunch to share with you.

Keep reading to find out who has made the cut this month…

FAVELA

FAVELA is not an act from Brazil but instead from Leeds and we are loving the music that is being made by the 22 year old. The latest track Future Visions taken from the EP of the same name is a perfect summer tune with its mellow lounge vibes and easy house underlay. We’ve been spinning this track for weeks and still haven’t gotten tired of if. We love the chill vibes from FAVELA’s music. Check out Future Visions on SoundCloud.

Clean Cut Kid

We continue with another band from up north but from Liverpool this time. Clean Cut Kid are a quartet that have been making music with an old school feel to it but also very contemporary. Vitamin C is their latest single and is a vibrant track showcasing the band’s interesting take on pop music. Clean Cut Kid have emerged with a wonderfully distinguished sound, where pop and experimentalism combine in glorious harmony. The bounding Vitamin C is the first payoff of those intense writing sessions. We love the fun side of this band’s music.

Sample Answer

Sample Answer is originally from Dublin and has recently settled in London. The young artist has been hard at work writing and recording his debut EP and his leading track Good Boy is beautiful indeed. The twenty-year-old virtuoso melds hip-hop, classic pop songwriting and authentic urban storytelling with unique flair on this debut. We love his easy going pop.

Check out Good Boy:

Charlie Puth

Charlie Puth is a 24 year old singer-songwriter who gained notoriety on YouTube with his songs. It wasn’t long before the young artist was noticed and now he has a track out with American star Meghan Trainor. Before singing with Trainor, Puth wrote and sang alongside Wiz Khalifa on See You Again, which featured on Furious 7. Undoubtedly Puth will be gracing radio stations in the months to come with his own material. We love it because it’s good pop.

Check out Marvin Gaye:

Ex Hex

Ex Hex is a power trio hailing from Washington, DC, making the music you’ve been waiting for. Drums, bass, guitar, P90s, searing leads – this is unapologetic rock ’n’ roll. Since bowling over critics with the release of debut album Rips last October, Mary Timony, Laura Harris & Betsy Wright have toured almost continuously, taking in US dates with King Tuff as well as hugely successful European & US headline tours. We love just how cool these ladies are.
