Ed Sheeran, Ben Howard for new Live Lounge album

BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge 2014 will be released on Monday 27th October 2014 it has been confirmed.

The new collection features first time appearances from breakthrough artists Sam Smith, George Ezra and Ella Henderson as well as returning favourites including Ed Sheeran, Ellie Goulding, Paolo Nutini and Coldplay.

The new release is the 9th volume in the hugely successful series. BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge 2014 rounds up all the best Live Lounge sessions of the year showcasing the biggest hits of the year as either cover versions or performances of the artists’ own tracks.

Covers on the release include Ed Sheeran’s take on man-of-the-moment Sam Smithā€™s Stay With Me, Foxes giving a new slant to the biggest track of 2014 – Pharrell Williamsā€™ Happy, Clean Banditā€™s live version of Rather Be, BBC Introducing artist Indiana taking on the hit of the summer Waves, originally by Mr Probz. and Ben Howardā€™s haunting interpretation of Kieszaā€™s Hideaway.

Live Lounge has been a staple of Radio 1 for 13 years and began on Jo Whiley’s show. Fearne Cotton now oversees the sessions as part of her radio show.
