Danny Elfman & Tim Burton return to The Royal Albert Hall

A special celebration of composer Danny Elfman’s scores for filmmaker Tim Burton is set to return to The Royal Albert Hall in December 2014.  Following on from its sell-out World Première at the venue last year, fans are going to get a rare second chance to experience this live marriage of music and film.

After a particularly amazing live event based around Oscar winner The Artist, The Royal Albert Hall continues its association with cinema in these unique events, with many more coming up including Gladiator, Star Trek and Star Trek: Into Darkness.

The multimedia concert, ‘Danny Elfman’s Music from the Films of Tim Burton’, features live orchestral music from classics such as Beetlejuice, Batman, Edward Scissorhands, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Alice in Wonderland and Frankenweenie, accompanied by a collection of Burton’s original sketches, drawings and storyboards on the big screen.

Elfman, who also wrote the theme music for The Simpsons and Desperate Housewives, described the première last October as “the greatest moment of my life”.

The event, returning due to phenomenal demand, will feature an exclusive special guest performance by four-time Oscar-nominee Danny Elfman. It takes place on Friday 12 December at 9.30pm.

As well as providing irresistible entertainment, the concert is designed to explore the collaborative relationship between music and storytelling, and the process and importance this has in filmmaking.

Jasper Hope, Chief Operating Officer at the Royal Albert Hall, said: “Danny Elfman is one of the most distinctive and popular film score composers of the past quarter-century, and his magical collaborations with Tim Burton have brought joy to moviegoers the world over.

“The World Première of this celebration of his work was a huge success, and we are delighted to welcome Danny Elfman back to the Royal Albert Hall for a follow-up performance.

“The Royal Albert Hall has become the place to see exciting, innovative concerts combining cinema and live music, and this event promises to be another very special night.”

Forthcoming concerts combining film and live music include Gladiator, Pixar in Concert, Star Trek and Star Trek Into Darkness.
