Boardwalk Empire will come to an end following its fifth season HBO has confirmed.
The hit US drama stars Steve Buscemi and has been a huge hit across the globe. In the UK it’s been a highlight of Sky Atlantic achieving a cult following.
Series creator Terence Winter released a statement saying, “After much discussion with my creative team and HBO, we’ve decided to wrap the series after such a great run and look forward to bringing it to a powerful and exciting conclusion.”
The news of the series end comes just three months after it was renewed for a fifth season. Since it debuted Boardwalk Empire has won 17 Emmys.
The fifth and final season of the show is set to air in the US this autumn with a UK transmission expected to follow shortly after.
