Some suggestions of what games to buy for Xbox One gamers this Christmas.

Xbox One

It’s an expensive time for gamers who have taken the jump into the new generation of consoles.

If you’re buying for an Xbox One gamer this year then there’s no better present than a new game for their shiny new console.

Below you’ll find our top picks for Xbox One gamers. Stay tuned to EF for games gift guides for other consoles.

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag

Assassin's Creed IV

Assassin’s Creed has made the jump to next-gen with the fabulous Black Flag. It was a lovely looking game on Xbox 360 and PS3 but looks even better on Xbox One and PS4. Scenes look more crisp and are far more detailed with enhanced water and environmental effects. Plenty of neat little touches enhance the experience such as the way foliage now moves as you crawl through it. A perfect gift for fans of the series.

Battlefield 4

Battlefield 4 Xbox One

EA and DICE have done far more than just port Battlefield 4 to next-gen. Graphically it looks absolutely stunning with much crisper and more detailed visuals. Battlefield games are all about the multiplayer and next-gen doesn’t disappoint with an upgraded player count from 24 to 64. The developers are working hard to fix some issues with the multiplayer but hopefully these will be sorted in time for Christmas. There’s also the brilliant new commander mode that takes advantage of a tablet device as a second screen.

Call of Duty: Ghosts

CoD Ghosts

Call of Duty and shooter fans will be delighted to find a copy of Call of Duty: Ghosts under the tree this year. The graphics are far more detailed and the game runs silky smooth at 60fps on Xbox One.

Dead Rising 3

Dead Rising 3

If you’re looking for a game for an Xbox One gamer who loves zombies then be sure to snap up a copy of Capcom’s Dead Rising 3. Featuring a massive open world to explore, endless zombies to slay and the craziest weapons around. Great fun.

FIFA 14

fifa14

There’s only one game that Xbox One footie fans will be shooting for this xmas and that’s FIFA 14 from EA Sports. This version looks and plays better than the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions thanks to much upgraded visuals and far more complex animation. The Xbox One version also benefits from exclusive features for the popular Ultimate Team mode.

Forza Motorsport 5

Forza5

Another exclusive and one for the car and racing fans is Forza Motorsport 5. This is arguably the best looking and most impressive launch title on Xbox One. There’s over 200 cars to choose from and commentary again provided by the Top Gear team. The game shows off the impulse triggers on the Xbox One controller allowing you to get instant feedback on how hard you are pushing the car. Another neat feature is the new cloud based Drivatar technology that allows an AI controlled version of yourself to compete while you are offline.

Just Dance 2014

For the more energetic or those just looking to show off the new Xbox One Kinect sensor is Just Dance 2014 from Ubisoft. The Xbox One version supports up to 6 players simultaneously dancing to tracks by artists such as Nicki Minaj, One Direction, David Guetta, Katy Perry, Olly Murs and Lady Gaga. The perfect way to get the xmas party going as well as get started on your fitness for next year.

Need for Speed: Rivals

This year’s Need for Speed from EA and Ghost Games is called Rivals. It lets players drive as racers or cops and pits them against each other. It looks the part and the cars handle with a perfect mix of sim and arcade. Definitely one for the more competitive gamer.

Ryse: Son of Rome

Ryse Xbox One

Ryse: Son of Rome is the perfect title for showing off the graphical power of the Xbox One. Featuring brutal hand-to-hand combat, a single player story and co-operative modes.

Zoo Tycoon

Zoo Tycoon

Zoo Tycoon is the most child friendly of the Xbox One launch titles but it’s sure to charm adults as well. It teaches players to look after animals and run their own zoo. As players complete community challenges in game Microsoft are promising to donate money to related animal charities. A perfect gift for younger players or those who just love animals.
