Thor: The Dark World stormed straight to the top of the UK box office over the weekend.
Opening with an impressive £8.65 million, £5.54 million of which is the 3 day weekend total, Thor: The Dark World also opened at the top of th ebox office in France, Germany and Spain. It opens in the US this week.
Thor: The Dark World is the sequel to the Marvel smash Thor and sees Chris Hemsworth reprise the titular role. Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Sir Anthony Hopkins, Idris Elba and Christopher Eccleston also star.
The film sees Thor battle to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel’s Thor and Marvel’s Avengers Assemble Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.
