Pink – The Truth About Love: Fan Edition album review

Pink released her sixth studio albumĀ The Truth About LoveĀ in September this year on the back of smash-hitĀ Blow Me (One Last Kiss). Amazingly in the US it became Pinkā€™s first number one album over her career so far. Here in the UK the album peaked at number 2. With her new singleĀ TryĀ riding high in the UK charts, the singer-songwriter has re-released the album as a newĀ Fan EditionĀ package just in time for Christmas.

The Truth About Love: Fan EditionĀ contains the entire original album and 7 bonus tracks, all of which have featured on various editions of the album with the exception of the raucousĀ The King Is Dead But The Queen Is AliveĀ which was the b-side forĀ Blow Me (One Last Kiss). This is the first time all of the tracks have appeared on one release and they certainly add even more value to an already fantastic album.

All of these tracks could easily have fit into the original releaseā€™s tracklist. PunchyĀ My Signature MoveĀ is classic Pink,Is This Thing On?Ā is a mid-tempo ballad with a gentle beat andĀ TimebombĀ is an explosive pop/rock stormer that could be ear-marked as a future single. The charmingly namedĀ Chaos & PissĀ is surprisingly sombre and is the kind of ballad that Pinkā€™s fans yearn for when they see her live. Our favourite of theĀ  new tracks is a toss-up between the stadium sized mid-tempo numberĀ RunĀ (thankfully not a Snow Patrol cover) and the hand-clap filled uptempo numberGood Old Days

The release comes with a DVD featuring the videos forĀ Blow Me (One Last Kiss)Ā andĀ TryĀ as well as live performances ofĀ Are Well All We Are,Ā Blow Me (One Last Kiss),Ā TryĀ andĀ Fuckinā€™ Perfect. Thereā€™s also a behind-the-scenes featurette from the albumā€™s photoshoot.

If you havenā€™t already got your copy ofĀ The Truth About LoveĀ then youā€™ve no excuse now this fantasticĀ Fan EditionĀ is available. Packed with fantastic tunes, itā€™s Pinkā€™s best body of work to date and we canā€™t wait to see her performing these tracks on her UK tour next year. She doesnā€™t often get as much credit as she deserves but Pink is one of the finest female popstars on the planet and sheā€™s certainly the most consistent.
