The Janice Graham Band – Assassiner single review

The Janice Graham Band is certainly unique in their approach to making quality original music. The impish Manchester foursome continues their cross-genre themed assault on mainstream music by releasing Assassiner.

Following on from single No Money Honey, as taken from impressive debut album It’s Not Me, The Janice Graham Band have managed to deliver yet another slick, catchy and clever song with dark menacing tones and sharp-tongued lyrics to shock and entertain.

The mix of jazz funk, reggae and ska nicely laced with bass guitar is a very welcome breath of fresh air, and Assassiner is proof that the band can slow the pace of this musical cocktail without compromising the standard.

As an exceptional live act, The Janice Graham Band’s style will inevitably draw not-so-subtle comparisons to The Specials, a huge compliment to boot.

Keep an eye on these boys, as EF strongly suspects that theirs will be a sound to reverberate through 2012.
