Carrie Underwood is marking the 20th anniversary of her record-breaking debut album ‘Some Hearts' with a special edition vinyl release, available exclusively through Target. The ‘Some Hearts 20th Anniversary Edition' will be released on Friday, November 14, just one day before the album’s original release date in 2005.
Originally launched in the wake of Underwood’s American Idol victory, Some Hearts quickly became a cultural phenomenon. Certified 9x platinum, it remains the best-selling debut country album of all time. Featuring smash hits like “Jesus, Take the Wheel,” “Before He Cheats,” and “Wasted,” the album not only defined Underwood’s early career but also set a new standard for crossover success in country music.
The 20th Anniversary Edition features a new alternate cover and packaging, an exclusive photo booklet, and—for the first time ever on vinyl—four live recordings from Underwood’s 2005 session at Nashville’s Blackbird Studios. These previously unreleased tracks offer a rare and intimate glimpse into her early post-Idol performances, captured just months after her rise to fame.
The release comes during a milestone year for Underwood, who also celebrated the 20th anniversary of her American Idol win by becoming the first former contestant to sit on the show’s judging panel. The latest season of American Idol concluded on May 18 and is available to stream on Hulu.
