Ahead of his C2C Festival shows Dierks Bentley releases new ‘anti-Valentine’s’ song ‘She Hates Me’

Dierks Bentley is bringing some humor to heartbreak this Valentine’s Day with the release of his latest track, ‘She Hates Me.' A mix of country storytelling and garage-rock energy, the song captures the tale of a man whose charm has officially worn off. Fans can stream the track now.

Written by Bentley alongside longtime collaborators Ashley Gorley, Ross Copperman, and Chase McGill, ‘She Hates Me' was born during a songwriting camp last spring. The track fits right in with Bentley’s tongue-in-cheek heartbreak anthems like ‘Somewhere On A Beach' and ‘Drunk On A Plane.' Produced by Copperman, Jon Randall, and Mary Hilliard Harrington, the song features Bentley’s signature smoky vocals backed by grungy guitars, steady drums, and an undeniable hook.

“We were goofing around with this idea before diving into our next ‘serious’ song, really just trying to make each other laugh. It just fell out, and I didn’t think much more about it after that,” Bentley shares. “But then it really came to life in the studio, and then my kids were requesting it, and then I was getting texts from friends who had heard it, so I started taking it more seriously. I love any opportunity to laugh at myself—especially my younger self—and ‘She Hates Me’ definitely provides that. I can’t wait for my fans to see the music video.”

The official music video takes the song’s humor and heartbreak to the next level, placing Bentley in a bourbon-fuelled nightmare where he’s haunted by an ex-girlfriend. Twisting between reality and fantasy, the dark and steamy visual adds another layer to the track’s mischievous edge.

With more than 20 years at the top of country music, Bentley continues to push the boundaries of the genre while staying true to his roots. A member of the Grand Ole Opry and a multi-Platinum artist, he has built a career at the crossroads of country, bluegrass, and Americana. Since his breakout debut single “What Was I Thinkin’” in 2003, Bentley has released eight number-one albums, earned 22 number-one songs, amassed over eight billion global streams, and received 15 GRAMMY® nominations.

Next up, Bentley will take his high-energy live show overseas as he headlines the annual C2C: Country to Country Festival from March 14-16, with performances in Glasgow, London, and Belfast. Fans can expect a setlist filled with hits, new favorites, and the signature energy that has made him one of country music’s most captivating entertainers.
