Naturalist, author and television presenter Steve Backshall is swapping nature for glitterballs as he joins the line-up for the new series of Strictly Come Dancing.
Talking about his ideal dance partner, Steve said, āIād like to have someone who I can have a laugh with. Weāre going to spend so much time in each otherās company weāre going to have to become pals. Iād like it to be someone small so we could do lots of lifts and the high energy stuff.ā
Is Steve ready to swap his usual clothing for sequins, lycra and glitter? āIād like to have someone who I can have a laugh with. Weāre going to spend so much time in each otherās company weāre going to have to become pals. Iād like it to be someone small so we could do lots of lifts and the high energy stuff.ā
Part of Strictly is learning a variety of dances. Is Steve looking forward to any dance in particular? āThe Tango and the Paso Doble. Iāve spent a lot of time in Latin America and Iāve seen those dances done well and there is something utterly sensual and magnificent about them and Iāve always wanted to give them a try. Itās not something you can do in half measures; youāve got to throw yourself into it 100% and I just absolutely love the idea of being able to do one of those dances well.ā
Strictly Come Dancing returns at 8pm Sunday on BBC One. Watch Steve’s launch interview below:
