MCA Records has announced the signing of acclaimed country rock band 49 Winchester, who will release music under Dave Cobb’s Lucille Records imprint. The band will make their debut on the label this Friday with a powerful cover of Black Sabbath’s ‘Changes,' marking their first new release since joining forces with Cobb. Inspired by Ozzy Osbourne’s classic original, the track blends 49 Winchester’s Appalachian grit with a soulful, unexpected edge, offering fans a glimpse into the new creative direction they’ve been exploring.
The Virginia-born band is currently in the studio with nine-time Grammy Award-winning producer Dave Cobb, crafting their next full-length album set for release in 2026. Known for their honest storytelling, fiery musicianship, and genre-blurring sound that fuses Southern rock and country, 49 Winchester have built a reputation as one of the most exciting live acts on the circuit. This fall, they’ll bring that high-energy performance to Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium for two nights on November 14 and 15.
“We’re thrilled to be joining the MCA and Lucille family,” says frontman Isaac Gibson. “Working with Dave Cobb is a dream, and we can’t wait for our fans to hear the new music we’re creating together.” Bassist and co-founder Chase Chafin adds, “We couldn’t be more excited for MCA to be the home of future 49 Winchester releases, and to share this next chapter with those who made it possible.”
MCA will collaborate with New West Records for the upcoming release, after which all future projects will be released exclusively under the MCA banner. Cobb, known for his work with Chris Stapleton, Sturgill Simpson, and Jason Isbell, praised the band’s authenticity and emotional depth. “In working with 49 Winchester, it felt like they laid it all out on the line,” he said. “The record is pure heart and honesty — a lot of soul and love went into making it.”
Mike Harris, President and CEO of MCA, echoed that enthusiasm: “Their mix of Southern rock is powerful and authentic, and we look forward to supporting them as they continue to evolve.” New West Records’ President John Allen added, “Partnering once again with my longtime friend Dave Cobb is always a pleasure, and MCA is the perfect home for 49 Winchester as we work together to reach even greater heights.”
Lucille Records, helmed by Cobb, aims to champion artists who push creative boundaries and redefine modern American music. Alongside 49 Winchester, the label’s roster includes rising soul artist Lamont Landers, with more signings to be announced soon.
