Elizabeth Nichols shines in emotional Grand Ole Opry debut

Fast-rising country singer-songwriter Elizabeth Nichols made her Grand Ole Opry debut on Saturday, November 1, in a performance that was as heartfelt as it was career-defining. Surrounded by more than 75 family members who travelled from across the country to witness the milestone, the Texas-born artist took to the legendary stage to perform her breakout hit ‘I Got A New One' and an unreleased song titled ‘Birthday Candles,' a touching tribute to her late mother. Nichols honoured her mother’s memory — a former Miss Texas and gown designer — by wearing a bright pink, floor-length sequin gown inspired by her style and spirit.

“I absolutely love the Opry. Making my debut felt like my wedding day — I was so excited,” Nichols shared. “Having so many of my family members there to share it with me made it extra special. It meant a lot to also have my mom’s side of the family in the audience, so I wanted to honour her and them. Performing ‘Birthday Candles’ for the first time ever on such an emotional day was a little risky, but I’m so glad I did — it made the night that much more meaningful. It was a moment I’ll never forget.”

Born in Texas, raised on a Kentucky farm and educated in Oklahoma and Australia, Nichols brings a worldly yet grounded perspective to her songwriting. Since moving to Nashville, she’s amassed millions of streams with songs that blend humour, heart and honest storytelling. Her viral hit ‘I Got A New One' topped the Country iTunes chart for multiple weeks after Kelly Clarkson covered it on her show, while other tracks like ‘Trailer Treasure,' ‘Bad Taste,' and ‘Somebody Cooked Here' have solidified her as one of the most refreshing new voices in country music.

Nichols released her debut EP ‘Tough Love' in June and has since continued to build momentum with new singles, including the reflective ‘Daughter' and playful ‘Little Birds.' Recently off the road supporting Wyatt Flores’ Welcome Back to the Plains Tour, Nichols has also performed at iconic venues like the Bluebird Café, CMA Fest and the Kentucky Derby. She will be making her UK debut in March at the iconic C2C festival in London.
