Halfway through his groundbreaking Las Vegas residency at Sphere, Kenny Chesney continues to push the envelope. On Friday night, the East Tennessee hitmaker lit up the stage with a performance that blended high-octane fun, emotional storytelling, and surprise appearances—further solidifying his place as one of country music’s most dynamic entertainers.
Chesney kicked things off with “Beer in Mexico,” surrounded by swirling visuals of sugar skulls and dancing skeletons, while bassist Harmoni Kelley turned heads in a glittering white Elvis-style jumpsuit. With fans, friends, and family in attendance, the energy never let up.
The upcoming 2025 Country Music Hall of Fame inductee leaned into both fun and heartfelt moments, dedicating ‘Big Star' to his friend Reba McEntire and sharing the story behind the deeply personal ‘Old Blue Chair.' But one of the night’s most memorable highlights came when Chesney brought out longtime friend and collaborator Grace Potter.

Wearing a sparkling purple mini dress, Potter joined Chesney for their Grammy-nominated ballad ‘You and Tequila.' Their onstage chemistry was palpable, with the duo exchanging smiles throughout the performance. Potter then challenged Chesney to embrace the spirit of Vegas and channel Elvis Presley. He obliged with a fiery rendition of ‘Burning Love,' transforming the stage into a rockabilly celebration as Potter strapped on a Flying V guitar and tore through her verse.
“When Grace gets a notion, I usually just roll with it,” Chesney said after the show. “She’s one of the most musical people I’ve ever met, as well as fun.”
Potter added, “We’re in Vegas! You rock! Let’s do this. And man, did they.”
The surprises didn’t stop there. As the animated visuals signaled the start of ‘When The Sun Goes Down,' Uncle Kracker made an unannounced appearance, stepping out to roaring cheers. In addition to performing their hit duet, the singer stuck around for a mini-set that included his own hits ‘Follow Me' and ‘Drift Away.'

The show also coincided with Kracker’s birthday. As part of a long-standing tour tradition, he was presented with a massive margarita and a bright green birthday cake. Chesney led the crowd in a chorus of “Happy Birthday,” with No Shoes Nation singing along in full force.
“Anytime Kracker wants to join us, he has an open invitation,” Chesney said. “The soul he brings to what we do, the band and I can’t get enough.”
While the show isn’t structured around guest appearances, Chesney’s residency has naturally evolved into a celebration of musical friendships and the devoted community he’s built with No Shoes Nation. With visuals ranging from Caribbean seaplane rides to nostalgic family photos and a massive virtual fishbowl, the immersive nature of the venue creates a deeper connection between artist and audience.
“I think everybody’s curious about what this massive show is all about,” Chesney said. “But we’re having so much fun out here. When you have friends calling, asking if they can come, I’ve always been the ‘more, the better’ kind of guy.”
As the Vegas shows continue, the combination of high-tech visuals, guest appearances, and raw energy continues to make each night a unique chapter in Chesney’s storied career. For No Shoes Nation, it’s more than a concert—it’s an experience.
