Nashville singer-songwriter Reid Haughton has dropped his latest single, ‘The Wheel,' featuring fellow Alabama native Drake White. The laid-back track pays homage to the “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” philosophy, offering a relaxed reminder to enjoy life’s simple pleasures and keep things uncomplicated.
“‘The Wheel’ is an autobiographical tune that’s about as laid back as I am,” Haughton shared. “It’s my personality in song form. Having Drake on the track made perfect sense to me. I was out on the road with him, and as I got to know him, I realised we thought a lot alike. Asking him to feature felt natural, and now it seems the song was always meant to be that way. I’m proud of how it turned out.”
Haughton’s signature blend of country and Southern rock was solidified with last year’s debut LP ‘Higher Than 9.' Produced by Sadler Vaden, the album captures the energy of a live bar band while weaving in Haughton’s authentic Deep South storytelling. Drawing from classic country and the Southern rock of his Muscle Shoals upbringing.
A seasoned performer, Haughton honed his craft playing college bars and has since toured with acts like Whiskey Myers and 49 Winchester. Known for preserving the raw, live-band feel in his recordings, his influences from artists like the Grateful Dead and Jimi Hendrix shine through in his music, broadening his appeal across Southern rock and mainstream country fans alike. As Rolling Stone aptly described, “Haughton’s brand of guitar-based country should satisfy a whole bunch, from Southern rock to mainstream country fans.”
Currently on tour supporting Hudson Westbrook, Haughton continues to showcase his dynamic stage presence and versatility. For a full list of tour dates and more information, visit his official website.
