Country-soul artist Drake White has released his deeply moving new documentary, ‘Ladder to the Sky: A Hunts the Healing Story,' now streaming exclusively on YouTube. Directed by Holt Ingalls and produced by White, Ingalls, Zack Knudson, and Rev White Pictures in association with Hatchee Productions, the feature-length film offers a raw and emotional look at White’s remarkable comeback from a life-threatening on-stage stroke in 2019. Doctors once feared he might never walk again, let alone perform, but ‘Ladder to the Sky' chronicles how White defied every odd with unshakable determination.
The film’s title and theme draw inspiration from a moment shortly after his stroke, when a trail camera at his home captured a 175-inch buck — a rare and powerful symbol that became a source of hope and motivation during his recovery. Viewers witness how hunting and nature became central to White’s physical and emotional healing, helping him find his way back to music and to life itself.
Featuring candid interviews with friends and collaborators including Riley Green, Zac Brown, Kid Rock and others, the documentary traces White’s journey of faith, resilience, and rebirth. To celebrate the release, he hosted a private premiere event at The Duck Blind in Nashville, owned by Green, where family, friends and industry peers gathered for an early viewing. The project was supported by partners including Realtree, Banded, Honey Brake, The Outdoor Channel, Bergara, Bushnell, Federal, Buck Busters Seed Co, 1st Products, and Tecomate.
White continues to champion brain health and recovery through his non-profit Benefit For The Brain, which returns for its second annual concert at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville on November 17. The event will feature performances from White alongside Riley Green, Jon Pardi, Kassi Ashton and other special guests. Proceeds will support causes close to White’s heart, including mental wellness for veterans, brain health in children, and innovative stroke recovery programs. The inaugural event sold out the Ryman and raised more than $253,000.
Following recent singles ‘Nuthin’ But a Smile' and ‘Nights on Fire,' White is bringing his music to fans across North America. Currently touring with Riley Green on the Damn Country Music Tour, he’ll headline his own Keep It Movin’ Tour this fall before rejoining Green for the Cowboy As It Gets Tour in 2026.
