Singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Sophia Scott has unveiled her latest track, ‘Tumbleweed' a poignant ballad that marries bittersweet reflection with heartfelt gratitude. Out now via EMPIRE, the confessional song explores the transformative beauty of finding someone who accepts you unconditionally.
A Story of Growth and Love
Written by Scott alongside Ross Copperman (Luke Bryan, Keith Urban) and Ava Suppelsa (Flatland Cavalry, Carly Pearce), and produced by Sam Martinez (Shaboozey, Graham Barham), ‘Tumbleweed' delves into Scott’s journey of self-discovery and the challenges of staying grounded in relationships.
“I’ve always had one foot out the door / My boots have been broken in / From all the searching for something more,” Scott sings, reflecting on her restlessness before finding a deep, grounding love.
With poetic imagery—cowboys, blackbirds, tequila, and rolling tides—the song combines dreamlike textures with sparse guitar tones, building to an emotional crescendo in the chorus:
“Boy, only you / Could go put some roots / On a tumbleweed.”
Fans of her 2023 debut album Barstool Confessions will find echoes of her raw vulnerability in ‘Tumbleweed' reminiscent of tracks like the tender and soul-stirring ‘Lipstick on You.'
