Platinum-selling country artist and CMA New Artist of the Year nominee, Mitchell Tenpenny, is just one week away from releasing his third studio album ‘The 3rd' on September 20. The highly anticipated 20-track album, produced by Jordan Schmidt, is available for pre-order now.
In celebration of the upcoming release, Tenpenny has dropped a new single, the upbeat track ‘Started Stoppin.' Written alongside hitmakers Ashley Gorley, Chase McGill, and Schmidt, the song is now available on all digital platforms. “We wrote this song altogether at Ashley’s beach house,” shared Tenpenny. “Someone said the phrase ‘started stoppin,’ and it became our hook. It almost wrote itself.” He highlighted a standout lyric, “You quit loving me seven months ago. Last night I slept all night, that’s one night in a row,” describing the process of moving on after heartbreak. Tenpenny added, “It’s one of my favourite songs I’ve ever done.”
Tenpenny kicked off his Woke Up In A Dream tour last night in Las Vegas at the Theatre at Virgin Hotels. The tour, running through mid-November, features special guests The Castellows this weekend and Dylan Schneider for the rest of the shows. Tickets are on sale now at Mitchell10Penny.com.
Ahead of the album release, Tenpenny will perform his latest radio single, ‘Not Today' on NBC’s Today Show on Wednesday, September 18. Just two days later, he’ll take the stage at New York City’s Terminal 5.
Adding to the excitement, Tenpenny recently earned a nomination for New Artist of the Year at the 58th Annual CMA Awards, set to air live from Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on November 20 on ABC.
