Ariana Grande continues to pay homage to the legends that paved the way for her by enlisting R&B icons Brandy and Monica for the remix of her latest single ‘the boy is mine'.
Hot on the heels from collaborating with Mariah Carey on the remix of ‘yes, and?', Grande has reunited Brandy and Monica for this exciting remix of ‘the boy is mine' following their appearances in the music video for the track. Watch the lyric video below:
Brandy and Monica released their iconic single ‘The Boy is Mine' in 1998 and they reunited in 2012 for ‘It All Belongs To Me'. ‘The Boy is Mine' won the Grammy Awards for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals and topped the Billboard Hot 100 at #1 for 13 weeks, becoming the best-selling song of the year and the best-selling female duet of all time.
It should be noted that Grande's ‘the boy is mine' is not a cover of the Brandy and Monica song, and it doesn't sample it either.
Earlier this month, Grande premiered the official music video for ‘the boy is mine', directed by Christian Breslauer, starring Penn Badgley with special appearances from Brandy and Monica.
‘the boy is mine' is featured on Grande’s critically acclaimed new album eternal sunshine, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200, her sixth #1 album.
