Gears of War 5 multiplayer test starts this week

The Gears of War 5 multiplayer technical test will begin on 19th July and will allow Xbox Game Pass subscribers to take part at no extra cost. Players who have pre-ordered the game will also be able to take part. You can get the download client now and have it installed in advance so it’s ready to go when the test starts.

Developer The Coalition warns that there could be a lengthy waiting time to get access to servers as they want to maintain server stability as much as possible.

The test will include Arcade, Escalation and King of the Hill modes across two multiplayer maps. Also included is the Bootcamp, a tutorial mode aimed at teaching new players the basics of Gears’ bloody combat. Finally, there is Tour of Duty, which is a progression system that rewards players with the Tester Weapon Skin by completing certain challenges; the skin will be available in Gears 5 when it releases.
