Ed Sheeran unveiled his new single Sing last night which is due for release on 1st June.
Sing is a collaboration with Pharrell Williams and came about after the two bumped into each other at the Grammy Awards. After exchanging details they went into the studio together.
Talking about working with Pharrell, Ed said, “Pharrell really pushes you and wants you to do the best thing possible. So you don’t go for the first thing he plays… Pharrell must have been on about his 17th idea when he played me this beat. I don’t really get jazz chords and this felt like one of them. Instinctively, I dismissed it, but I had a guitar in my hand and started playing that riff absent-mindedly. From that moment, I was playing that song and… we just pieced it all together.”
Sing is the first track to be taken from Ed’s new album x which is due for release on 23rd June.
