Texas Country and Americana artist Bri Bagwell has released her latest single, ‘Border Girl,' a high-energy, deeply personal track that highlights her roots and celebrates the vibrant blend of cultures that have shaped her. Out today, the song is a reflection of Bagwell’s upbringing in Las Cruces, New Mexico, and her connection to the borderlands of New Mexico, Texas, and Mexico.
“I’m from Las Cruces, New Mexico—a place where cultures collide in the most beautiful way,” Bagwell shared. “I don’t have Hispanic heritage in my blood, but it’s in my soul. I sing in Spanish, I grew up with Selena and George Strait in equal measure, and I see the Rio Grande not as a divider, but as something that connects us.”
Produced entirely by longtime collaborator and partner Paul Eason of The Wilder Blue, ‘Border Girl' blends electric guitar, pedal steel, and a Spanish-style acoustic solo to create a dynamic soundscape that mirrors the feeling of a desert road trip. Eason played every instrument on the track, with fellow Wilder Blue bandmate Lyndon Hughers contributing background vocals. The result is a genre-crossing anthem that balances rock, country, and Southwestern soul.
Already resonating with live audiences, ‘Border Girl' has become a crowd favourite for its message of pride, duality, and belonging. Bagwell is currently on a spring tour, with performances across Texas, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Ohio, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, and Missouri, and she’ll soon be joining Sean McConnell on upcoming dates.
