Hit songwriter Bandana Cheyenna releases new song ‘God and the Crickets’

After earning a reputation as one of Nashville’s most in-demand songwriters, Bandana Cheyenna is stepping into their own artistry with the release of their new single, ‘God and the Crickets.' Out now on all major streaming platforms, the track blends timeless country and folk influences while capturing the songwriter’s journey of chasing a dream with nothing but faith and persistence.

Produced by Herbie Mortera and co-written with MaRynn Taylor and Blake Ruby of Black River Entertainment, the song tells the story of leaving home, staying true to the craft, and performing for no one but God and the crickets along the way.

Originally written with Taylor in mind, Cheyenna quickly realised that the lyrics reflected their own story too deeply to let it go. “After the success of writing ‘Austin' for Dasha, I was really prioritizing writing for other artists,” says Cheyenna. “The songwriter in me wanted MaRynn to cut it – but the artist in me was so happy she didn't, because I knew deep down this song was meant for me to record. About six months later I got word I could cut it and I'd never been more excited. This is the song that made me realise, Oh, I really do want to be my own artist. I have a story to tell.”

Drawing on the inspiration of artists like Stevie Nicks, Joni Mitchell, and Kacey Musgraves, Cheyenna’s latest release showcases lyrical honesty and emotional resonance while connecting with every dreamer navigating the highs and lows of pursuing a passion.

With a growing list of songwriting credits including Dasha’s global smash “Austin (Boots Stop Workin’),” Alexandra Kay’s “Cupid’s A Cowgirl,” and collaborations with artists such as Breland, Caylee Hammack, Mickey Guyton, and Tenille Arts, Bandana Cheyenna is now carving their own path as one of country music’s most promising new voices.

With previous singles already under their belt, Cheyenna has been on an incredible journey. Cheyenna is an award-winning songwriter of 2024’s Female Song of the Year at the People Choice Country Awards, where they also walked their first red carpet. Cheyenne is also a winner at both the 2024 ASCAP Country Awards and 2025 ASCAP Pop Awards and performed at Nashville’s Pride Festival, marking milestones in both country music and broader cultural conversations.
