After wrapping two months of North American tour dates, award-winning artist and songwriter Lindsay Ell has released her brand-new single ‘good guy' through Universal Music Canada. With soaring vocals and shimmering pop production, the track dives into themes of betrayal, deception, and integrity, transforming raw emotion into a vibrant, danceable release.
Built around rhythmic bass lines, Ell’s signature Fender riffs, and pulsing synths, ‘good guy' is both musically infectious and lyrically unflinching. The song captures the strength of reclaiming power and telling hard truths, with lines like “What’s worse than keeping quiet, is keeping up the lie, so everyone around you still believes that you’re a good guy.”
“‘good guy’ is about setting the record straight and taking my power back,” Ell explains. “This song is an internal discussion about being forced to keep someone's integrity while knowing the truth. I think one of the most important things we can do in life is to be honest with ourselves.”
The single is the latest preview from Ell’s upcoming EP ‘fence sitter,' set for release on October 3. The project marks a further evolution of her sound, leaning deeper into pop singer-songwriter territory with songs that explore letting go, questioning motherhood, keeping faith, and reclaiming personal truth. Following last year’s ‘love myself' EP, which introduced her pop-forward direction, ‘fence sitter' showcases Ell’s continued growth as she embraces new creative horizons while staying true to her voice.
